How to prevent injuries during your move

While it’s true that you may be able to save a couple of bucks by moving yourself, you are also putting yourself at a higher risk for injury.

It’s no big surprise that many people get injured while moving, after all, you are lifting heavy objects over and over again. The thing about moving is that it involves more than just strength. Even people who are in great shape can get injured while moving. In order to prevent injury, you have to know how to move safely. The following is a list of tips from our movers in Central Florida to help you avoid injury while you are moving:

#1. Be aware of your limits.

When you are determined to move yourself, it could easily lead you to move things that are just too heavy for you to move safely. If a box or a piece of furniture feels too heavy or awkward for you to lift properly, then chances are, it probably is! Don’t attempt to move it by yourself, get help from your friends, family or a professional mover!

#2. Protect your spine.

Don’t make your back do all of the heavy lifting! Support your spine by engaging your abdominal muscles while you lift. You should also put the majority of the weight on your legs instead of your back. Start out bending your knees, center your body and then lift with your legs while flexing your abdominals.
