Moving isn’t just hard on people, it’s hard on pets too!

Although moving can be stressful for your pet, there are many things you can do to make the experience a little bit easier for your fur baby. In our last blog, our moving company in Leesburg went over a couple of helpful tips for moving with your pet. Keep reading to learn more:

#3. If possible, travel with your pet in your own vehicle.

If you aren’t shipping your car, try to move your pet in your own vehicle. Pets are very susceptible to scents, so if you are suddenly moving him or her in a vehicle that is filled with unfamiliar scents, it will only make the situation more stressful. Be sure to put them in a pet carrier or kennel so that they don’t jump in your lap or distract you while you are driving.

#4. Move your belongings before you move your pets.

If you have the luxury of extra time during your move, try to move and unpack the majority of your stuff before you move your pets. This will make your pet much more comfortable in the new home. While your pet is exploring the new house, make it a point to show them familiar toys and other objects to make them feel more comfortable.

#5. Buy your pet new tags.

If your dog or cat gets lots in your new neighborhood, they may not be able to find their way back to your new house. Make sure that you purchase new identification tags for your pets that reflect your new phone number (if you have one) and address.

We have just a few more tips for you to make moving with your pet easier. Stay tuned for our next blog!
